The genealogy of MESSIAH

Here is the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.  Abraham is the father of Isaac, and Isaac father of Jacob, and Jacob fathered Judah and his brothers.  To Judah, Perez and Zerah were born out of their mother Tamar.  Perez fathered Hezron, to Hezron was born Ram; and Ram fathered Amminadab, and Amminadab father of Nahshon, and Nahshon father of Salmon, and Salmon father of Boaz, his mother is Rahab.  To Boaz, Obed was born out of Ruth.  And Obed father of Jesse, and Jesse fathered David the king.  King David the father of Solomon, by Bathsheba, the former wife of Uriah.  Solomon father of Rehoboam, and Rehoboam father of Abijah, and Abijah father of Asa, and Asa father of Jehoshaphat, and Jehoshaphat father of Joram, and Joram father of Ahaz, and Ahaz father of Hezekiah, and Hezekiah father of Manasseh, and Manasseh father of Amon, and Amon father of Josiah, and Josiah became the father of Jeconiah and his brothers at the exile to Babylon.  After they were taken away to Babylon; Jeconiah became the father of Shealtiel, and Shealtiel fathered Zerubbabel, and Zerubbabel fathered Abiud, and Abiud father of Eliakim, and Eliakim father of Azor, and Azor fathered Zadok, and Zadok fathered Achim, and Achim father of Eliud, and Eliud father of Eleazar, and Eleazar fathered Matthan, and Matthan fathered Jacob, and Jacob father of Joseph, and Joseph was the husband of Mary, and Mary gave birth to Jesus, the one who is called Messiah.  So all the generations from Abraham to David the king are fourteen generations; and from King David until the deportation to Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the deportation of the Jewish remnant to Babylon to the advent of Messiah is fourteen generations. 1. Eli

There is a little problem with Jesus genealogy…

  2. There are two genealogies of the Davidic line of Messiah; one through Joseph who is the ancestor of Jeconiah (Jehoiakin, Coniah), and the other through Mary, who is the ancestor of Nathan. Jesus inherits the legal kingship through Jeconiah, while he inherits the physical kingship through Nathan.

    Now, go and worship.

  3. Amen bography! Eli the curse on Jeconiah is a problem indeed, yet on the other hand; is any thing too difficult for (Adonai) the Lord? The curse on Jeconiah is one reason we see that Messiah was born of a virgin (Isaiah 7:14) with the King of the Universe as His Father; as a result Messiah is the Son of God.

6 For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
    And he will be called
    Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
    Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7 Of the greatness of his government and peace
    there will be no end.
He will reign on David’s throne
    and over his kingdom,
    establishing and upholding it
    with justice and righteousness
from that time on and forever.
The zeal of the LORD Almighty
will accomplish this. Isaiah 9:6-7 NIV

    Also, since Messiah is the perfect Lamb of God who came to take away the sins of the world (Isaiah 53) He had to be “without spot or blemish” i.e. without sin. So that He Himself could be the sinless sacrifice for all our sins. Since Adam sinned and our sin nature is passed down through the man from generation to generation;

12 Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned—

13 To be sure, sin was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not charged against anyone’s account where there is no law. 14 Nevertheless, death reigned from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, even over those who did not sin by breaking a command, as did Adam, who is a pattern of the one to come. Romans 5:12-13 NIV

So the King of the Universe became the progenitor of the Messiah, His own dear Son who existed from eternity past became one of us through the miraculous virgin birth Yeshua is Emmanuel — God with us; the incarnation.
